March 2, 2026, Georgia, USA - USAMU Plays Critical Role in Training Soldiers on the NGSW equipped with the B.E. Meyers & Co. MAWL-X1

The United States Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) was originally founded in 1956 at the direction of President Dwight D. Eisenhower with the mission of winning international competitions, and today helps utilize the skills needed to win in competition, to assist in training US Army soldiers, as well as assist in weapons development.

With the rollout of the new M7 and M8 carbines, the AMU recently helped train and familiarize Army leaders with the new carbines, also equipped with the B.E. Meyers & Company MAWL®-X1 Laser.  Sgt. 1st Class Justin Bainbridge is the team chief for the USAMU’s Instructor Training Group (USAMU ITG), which provides customizable marksmanship training to units across the force as mobile training teams. The USAMU ITG plays a critical role in ensuring Soldiers are ready to employ the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) with confidence and precision when they provide detailed training to fielding units.

In Feb 2026, we announced that the US Army awarded B.E. Meyers & Company an additional contract for MAWL®-X1 and DAGIR®-V1 lasers in support of US Army Night Lethality via PM Lethality as part of the Tailored Logistics Services (TLS) program. We expect to see more MAWL®-X1 laser aiming modules in the field as it continues to get rolled out alongside other night fighting upgrades for US Army soldiers.
