Company History & Vision

Company History

B.E. Meyers began as a niche sales organization in 1974, offering novel optical components primarily in the field of astronomy. An opportunity arose to couple an image intensifier tube to a telescope, thus enabling superior observation of the night sky. Soon, these night vision telescope devices were in demand by local law enforcement, and the seeds for future products for military and law enforcement were planted. B.E. Meyers pioneered the application of infrared lasers as illuminators for use with long-range night vision devices  that became widely used for military surveillance operations. The company was then challenged to develop high-powered laser pointer devices  to be used for directing aircraft to ordnance placement. The renowned Infrared Zoom Laser Illuminator Designator (IZLID ®) products set the stage for a series of increasingly effective and successful laser-based solutions. Since the introduction of the IZLID®, laser illuminators and pointers have evolved to diode and microchip-assembly devices in visible and infrared wavelengths that range in power up to 4 watts. Today, B.E. Meyers occupies 70,000 square feet of facility space, expanding to over 135,000 in the summer of 2010, and employs over 180 people. We continue to develop innovative electro-optic products for the ever-changing battlefield, in addition to expanding our product offerings for homeland security, law enforcement, and commercial applications.
